About Us

Our Story

Kalamazoo Black History Museum will allow you to grow your knowledge through an outstanding collection. You’ll learn more than you ever thought possible and grow your mind in a miraculous way. We will constantly keep our offerings fresh through our special events, such as an Interactive Children's Museum, a Soul Food Cafe, Live Concerts, and temporary exhibitions.

We are dedicated to enhancing the minds of our visitors at our ever growing institution. The Museum doors will open to guests on June 19, 2026. We pledge to change and evolve all the time in an effort to consistently offer new experiences to you and your family.

Our Mission

What We’re All About

Our main mission is to educate all visitors about the work we do at Kalamazoo Black History Museum and facilitate their appreciation for African American culture and history. We are committed to educating through our Museum, one exhibit or event at a time. There will always be something new and exciting happening, and our knowledge is always expanding.

Our History

Our Roots

From the start, we have made it our mission to nurture growth and exploration of the human mind. Since our inception in 2022, we have been actively finding new and exciting ways to create an environment to stimulate future visitor interests, engagement, and hunger for more knowledge about the African-American diaspora. We will be a must-see Black history museum in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
